Jessup Bangladesh is a symbol of accomplishment for those who believe in themselves, is an inspiration for those who want to break the chain and is a love for many who loved mooting and international law. Till 2016, Bangladesh was an alien to the largest gathering of moot court competition of the world. The legal arena of Bangladesh and Jessup met in 2017 through the first Bangladesh Qualifying Round of Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition and for the first time any Bangladeshi team got the chance to bear the flag in the 2017 international round of Philip C. Jessup Moot Court Competition held in Washington D.C. Jessup held then and still The legal arena of Bangladesh embraced Jessup in 2017 and since this bonding is getting stronger and for Bangladeshi students Jessup has become the synonym of international law.
i. What is Jessup Bangladesh?
Jessup Bangladesh is a beacon of hope for those who believe in themselves; is an inspiration for those who has the audacity to break the chain; and a love for those who loved mooting and international law.
Jessup Bangladesh is the gathering of likeminded professionals and students who are committed to practice, promote, and profess the best principles of international law in order to build a community sensitive to the sufferings of a global citizen. Jessup Bangladesh believes that organizing the Bangladesh Qualifying Rounds of Philip C. Jessup Moot Court Competition (also known ‘Bangladesh Qualifying Rounds’, or ‘Jessup BD Round)’ will help to build a community of global citizens as well as will help to reduce the extant knowledge gap.
Jessup Bangladesh is a nonprofit community with a legal network of more than 850 alumnus and at present runs its activities with the support of ILSA and the friends of Jessup in Bangladesh.

ii. What does ‘Jessup Bangladesh’ do?
Organizing the Bangladesh Qualifying Round is the main responsibility of Jessup Bangladesh. Jessup Bangladesh with the support of its friends works effortlessly throughout the year to present the law students of Bangladesh a memorable Bangladesh Round every year. Every year it facilitates the journey of the teams advancing to the Washington D.C. International Rounds to ensure their effective participation. To reduce the knowledge gap Jessup Bangladesh has started organizing Pre Jessup-Workshops since 2018. Jessup Bangladesh is planning to organize country’s first ever international law summer school.
Apart from organizing Bangladesh round of Jessup, Jessup Bangladesh supports individual institutions in honing their mooting skills and knowledge of international law.

iii. Missions of Jessup Bangladesh?
Staring its journey in 2017, Jessup Bangladesh has become the third largest national qualifying rounds within seven years. Jessup Bangladesh has both practical and aspirational missions.
Practical mission includes breaking into the top eight of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition by 2027, and to have the honor of winning the internationals by 2030. In addition, Jessup Bangladesh and ILSA Chapters Bangladesh through its policy advocacy wants to introduce international law and mooting as full three credit courses in all the law schools of Bangladesh.
Aspirational mission incudes establishing a legal fraternity - educated and equipped in the principles of international law – which will effectively address any concerns, conflicts and disputes of international character and building a legal fraternity respectful to the norms of international law and sensitive to the rights of global citizens.

Any person who loves and upholds the spirit of International Law and wants to support the growth of Jessup globally can be a member of the Jessup Bangladesh. Even an institution can be a part of Jessup Bangladesh by sharing and upholding the same views of Jessup Bangladesh. Participant, trainer, judge, sponsor, partner, facilitator, and volunteer are the capacities in which one can get involved with Jessup Bangladesh.
