FAQs on Participation
No, only educational institutions offering a degree in law or in a field related to international law are eligible to participate in the competition. For Bangladesh, the educational institution must be recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC) and Bar Council. However, in exceptional cases, the Executive Director, in consultation with the national administrator, may grant eligibility to institutions that will not qualify the mentioned conditions. No, only the full time or part time students of the participating institution can take part on behalf of the institution. For details see “Team Member Eligibility” described in the Rule 2.3 of the Jessup Official Rule 2020.
No. Whoever after having graduated from any type of law degree program, either (i) engaged in the practice of law, or (ii) engaged in any paid or unpaid activity (outside of degree studies) which would give the student an undue advantage in any respect of the Competition over students who have not yet completed their first law degree is not allowed to take part in the Competition. For details see “Team Member Eligibility” described in the Rule 2.3 of the Jessup Official Rule 2020.
No, participating institutions and individuals are not permitted to use the current Competition Year’s competition materials (including the Competition Problem) for any purpose other than participating in the Jessup Competition. Teams and/ or individuals associated with institutions that violate this Rule may be disqualified from the Competition, and institutions violating it may be deemed ineligible to participate in future years. However, teams may organize “practice rounds” of oral pleadings involving the Competition Problem to prepare for the Competition. For details see “Practice Rounds” described in rule 2.13 of the Official Jessup Rules 2020.
Yes, if only there is no internal advisor and the external advisor is not involved with any other participating teams. Teams can reach out national organizers of Bangladesh Round if they fail to contact with an advisor.
