Ambassador Policy

An ambassador is a representative of Jessup Bangladesh; who will refrain himself/ herself form developing any interest based relationship with any participating team of the Bangladesh National Round of Philip C Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition..

An ambassador shall not guide, advise, coach or assist any team or share any opinion apropos of the Jessup Problems except the one s/he is assigned to by the national administrator.

An ambassador shall help the assigned team in meeting their submission deadline. However, s/he will try to answer the queries of the team on the following matters:
  • Explaining the structure and components of a Jessup Memorial
  • Explaining the Rule of Penalties and other relevant provisions of Jessup Official Rules
  • Providing General guidelines related to drafting a memorial; particularly marshaling of facts, referring facts, referring case laws, referring other relevant documents
  • Providing guidelines related to research, for instance, teaching them the method of finding case laws of ICJ or finding out previous years Jessup Memorials from open sources


An ambassador shall not provide any assistance or guidelines related to facts of the current year.

An ambassador may remotely coach the assigned the team through telecommunication or video conference. An ambassador may also meet the assigned team in person but that is not a requirement. An ambassador may help the assigned the team in preparing a workplan to meet the deadlines.

An ambassador shall commit to spend at least 8 hours with the assigned team after the submission of memorial. This time period shall spend to explain the art and decorum of submission. The ambassador shall explain how submitting before a court of ICJ is different than a national or regional court.

An ambassador shall commit to spend at least 16 hours with the assigned team after the submission of memorial. This time shall spend to explain the art and decorum of submission. The ambassador shall explain how submitting before a court of ICJ is different than a national or regional court.

An ambassador shall not receive any financial benefits from the assigned teams. However, an ambassador may receive travel compensation from the team in case of meeting them.

An ambassador shall not ask the team number of the institution and vice versa and shall inform the assigned team about this decorum at the beginning of their communication. If any team or member of the team discloses their team number accidentally or inadvertently the ambassador must inform that to the national administrator.

An ambassador shall uphold the spirit of ILSA and Jessup Bangladesh in carrying out his/ her assigned responsibilities.
